Long Nyau, in Sungai Tubu District, Malinau Regency made a new breakthrough. The village, which is in a very remote area and be accessed on foot from neighboring villages for 8 hours, is now breaking their limitation by presenting a village information system. The VIS contains spatial data and village social data, as well as population administration services. This information system can be accessed online and offline
The VIS is a mandate of Village Law No. 14 of 2014. Long Nyau Village Head Lukas Luwau said that the VIS is very important. “We often been asked for data, and then the data is not left with us, later someone will come data again, so it’s like working repeatedly, if with this system, our data has been centralized and managed by the village,” said Lukas Luwau.
Long Nyau, so far, is still very limited in access to transportation, information and also public services. According to Long Nyau head of village, one of the efforts to open up all limitations is through the village information system. “Seeing the importance of this village information system, we support this program through village funds,” said Lukas.
To support this activity, Lukas has formed a technical team consisting of a spatial team that will carry out field mapping, village potential, land use and community management areas. While the social team is tasked with collecting population data and social conditions of the community. The village government also supports this activity by using village funds of Rp 46 million, which is allocated for the purchase of electronic equipment to support information systems, and the payment of honorarium for technical personnel involved in this activity.
The VIS application was prepared by KKI Warsi, which provides field assistance and technical guidance to the community. “Currently, the application is in the data input stage, as well as submitting a request to the Minister of Communication and Information so that this website becomes the official website of the village,” said M. Alfindo, Warsi Facilitator who works in Long Nyau.
